Are Caucasians celebrities trying to make cornrows/French braids the hot new hair trend?

Cornrows or ‘French braids' is the most popular hair trend among the black community and white women have finally caught on.

I mean this is the hair style that every black person makes either underneath their weave, wig or when growing out their hair.

Cornrows can be made with your own natural hair or with extensions.

But recently we have spotted a number of Caucasian celebrities rocking this hair style and the media is trying to paint the picture that this is the hot new trend or the trend that was made popular by the Kardashians. But truth to be told this is not a new hair trend and black people have been wearing cornrows for a very long time. And just because a white celebrity wears it that doesn’t mean it’s new or black people need a white person to validate their culture.

Zendaya also pointed out, “'Braids are not new. Black women have been wearing braids for a very long time. Another problem is it became new and fresh and fun, because it was on someone else other than a black woman. You know what I mean? So that is the frustration.”

Black people should feel free to express themselves without the fear of being judged. Whether you want to express your natural curly, kinky hair or your culture you better do it so that other people won’t embrace it and get branded as the inventors.
