How to wear Crop Tops

The 90s are back with a bang and the crop top is a well-known part of this fashion haze. A few celebs, and fashion bloggers have been spotted revealing their midriffs and now that summer is around the corner and there’s no better way to reveal a little bit of the skin than wearing this trend.

The crop top trend was in vogue last year and is still thriving this Spring/Summer 2013. Could Jessica Ennis be the reason why we all want to reveal our midriffs after seeing her toned abdominal muscles last year during the Olympics? Who knows whatever the reason crop tops trend is here to stay so flaunt it.

Crop trend can look smart and chic if worn right, and it can also go terribly wrong if not worn the right way. We all know that not all of us have the guts to pull off total exposure like the way the queen of midriff does; this is none other than Rihanna. Good news is that you don’t need to look like Rihanna to pull off this trend curvaceous people can also pull off this look; Kim Kardashian was spotted wearing a high waisted peplum skirt with a crop top and she look fab. There’s a whole range of midriff exposing tops on the high streets, from peek-a-boo to bra lets, from body hugging to boxy crop tops.

Since most of us haven’t been to the gym since we made the New Year resolutions, fear not to rock the crop trend as fashion cadet is here to guide you on how to pull it off regardless of your size and shape. When wearing the crop trend makes sure your trouser/skirt is high waisted so that the upper rib area will be the only thing on display. Also try as much as possible only let a little skin peek through this much classier. High waisted skirts, shorts, jeans, pants, pencil skirts are great to wear with crop tops especially if you want to cover up a little.

Here are a few ways on how to wear crop tops, wear a body hugging crop top with a high waisted jeans/pants/pencil skirt and heels for a casual look. Wear a bra let crop top with jeans and throw in a biker jacket and heels/pumps/trainers for a rock chic look. You can also pair a crop tank top with skirt/high waisted pants/jeans with and a denim jacket/blazer for an edgy look. Pair a cropped top with a high waist shorts/skirts and pumps/sandals for a relaxing look. You can also pair a high waisted jeans and a crop top and you can also throw in a fedora hat.

Pair a cropped halter neck with a high waist jeans/skirt and heels for a dinner date. Pair a cropped biker jacket/cropped sleeveless denim with a blouse and a skirt/jeans/pants/dress with heels for a look made in heaven. Team up a boxy crop top with a pair of jeans/pants/skirt/shorts and strap ankle heels for a night out look. If you’re not brave enough or want to hide your midriff opt for layering. Layer a crop top on top of a lightweight top and team it up with a skirt/jeans/shorts and heels/trainers for a laid back style. Pair a crop tee-shirt with boyfriend jeans and flat shoes for a chill out look. And if you don’t have a cropped top why don’t you self invent one by self adjusting your top/tee-shirt and pair it with boyfriend jeans and trainers.

Please, expose a little section of your midriff leave the overexposed abs for when you hit the gym.

I really hated cropped tops in the past but I love them now. They look so rad. Of course I need to work on my non existing six pack and then I just need warm weather too :-)
