Hope y’all having a great weekend so far. I wore this ensemble a while ago where I decided to wear four of this season hottest trends in one outfit; gingham, stripes, pastels and dots. Initially I wasn’t sure about combining all these patterns & colours together, but I was impressed with the overall look as it didn’t look bad or what do you guys think?
I teamed up my gingham shirt with a striped sweatshirt, pastel yellow jeans, black statement necklace, leopard print strap watch, large hoop earrings and red & cream polka dot heels for a preppy look. Preppy trend is classic, stylish and a summer must have trend.
Gingham trend
This trend was spotted in a few spring summer 2014 runways which include Balmain, Carven, Prada and Derek Lam where the designers sent the models down the runway dressed in gingham pieces. This once considered retro print or table cloth has made a comeback as a modern print that can be styled as many ways possible. Gingham prints come in form of shorts, skirts, trousers, shirts, tops and accessories.
Gingham come in different colours & prints as large size checker patterns tend to make certain part of your body look large while small checker patterns are great for covering up those areas that you don’t want to highlight. The basic rule of pulling of gingham is to have a solid colour to balance out the look but for the fashion forward individuals they can mix and match with other prints & patterns or go for gingham head to toe for a statement look.
What I wore: Gingham print shirt: gifted, pastel yellow jeans: Internacionale, polka dot heels: Next, striped sweat shirt: Dorothy Perkins
