Mustafa Hassanali
Mustafa Hassanali is a well-known fashion designer from Tanzania and he specializes in women and men’s wear. Not only does he focuses in his own collections/brand but also believes in the enhancement of the Tanzanian Fashion Industry which led him to launch Swahili Fashion Week which creates a platform for existing and emerging designers.
Mustafa Hassanali showcases four collections each year and designs clothes for Miss Tanzania shows. His work is appreciated not only in Tanzania but also at international level. His showcased his designs at the Afric Collection in Douala, Cameroon, India International Fashion Week, Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief, Arise Africa Fashion Week, Durban & Cape Town Fashion Weeks, Vukani Fashion Awards in Pretoria, Miss Ethopia Beauty Pageant, Mediterranean Fashion Festival in Sicily, Italy; M’Net Face of Africa, Mozambique, Uganda & Kenya Fashion Weeks brought him immense adulation.

Other initiative that Hassanali supports are “Breast Cancer Awareness” & “Violence against Women” which he hosts every year to generate funds for this noble cause in mainland Tanzania. In Zanzibar, he supports the Zanzibar Mental Hospital since 2008 by having an annual showcase in the majestically spice island which resulted in the establishment of brand “Fashion 4 Health”.

The designer sent the male models down the runway dressed in kitenge/’ankara’/chitenge/African print trousers, netted tops with a hint of African print fabric, Africa print men’s shorts teamed with shirts white shirt with a hint ‘kitenge’.
