What is the difference between plaid & tartan?
We know what you’re thinking, but let’s get this clear before moving on. Tartan is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours to form a rectangular pattern. Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland. Tartan is often called plaid in North America, but in Scotland, plaid is a tartan cloth slung over the shoulder as a kilt accessory. With that said tartan and plaid are interchangeable as the name for the cloth or patterns.
Go bold with tartan print pieces but if you’re new to this trend start by incorporating it to your look inform of accessories such as plaid shoes, bags, rack sacks or scarves this season. When buying plaid/tartan pieces always keep in mind the type of plaid/tartan fabric you want before buying it, go for thick plaid/tartan fabrics for autumn/winter seasons and for chiffon, sheer fabrics for spring summer.
