A bedroom should be a calm place to unwind after a busy day. Decluttering a bedroom can be a tedious job, we suggest breaking it down by starting with one area rather than pulling the entire contents of your bedroom out in one go.
Here are few easy step by step guide on decluttering your bedroom.
A bedroom should be a place where you relax and not a cluttered place. According to statistics there are 3.6 billion items of clothing left unworn in the nation’s wardrobes.
Tidy up the wires: Use an extension lead through the back of your bedside table to hide mobiles and other devices with chargers.
Use a drawers/bedside tables that have a gap at the back, or cut a hole big enough for a plug, then put an extension at the back where you can charge your devices out of sight.
Wardrobe: The simple way of decluttering your wardrobe is to pile all your clothes together and go through them one by one. Get rid of any clothes that you haven’t worn for a long time or those that have rips and don’t fit you any more.
Arrange the hangers in your closet so that the hooks point the same direction. And every single time you wear an item, put it back with hook pointing the opposite way. Keep doing this for one year or less, you’ll see which clothes you never wear and you can either sell them or giving them to charity or friends. For the folded clothes lay them facing down until when they have been worn replace them facing up.
Fold your clothes in a way that you can see them i.e. standing, facing up or down.
Arrange/sort your clothes according to category i.e. dresses, shorts, jean’s or tops.
Storage box or basket: If you’re tight on storage space, you can use under the bed plastic storage or storage bags/boxes to store any out of season clothes or pillows.
Bedding: unless you have small children, you don’t need more than three sets of linen per bed. You can store spare sets in space saving vacuum storage bags by folding the sheet, duvet cover and one pillow case into a rectangle slightly smaller than the size of the remaining pillowcase, then lay them inside. Your old bedding can be recycled at clothes shops.
Hope these tips will help to declutter your bedroom.
