Joseph Altuzarra
Joseph Altuzarra’s SS14 collection is effortlessly chic and wearable. According to Altuzarra ‘I wanted something that women would want to wear in summer,’. ‘Something that felt easy.’ His collection emphasised on women as opposed to girls. Be prepared to show some flesh in spring summer 2014 as Altuzarra sent models down the catwalk wearing three quarter skirts with thigh slits in soft cotton.
His collection features soft layering, banker’s blue cotton or a patchworked indigo print, Japanese Boro fringing, cropped cotton jackets hand-embroidered in the style of Japanese boro fabrics, loose blouses, unbuttoned down to the waist men’s striped shirts, trompe l’oeil dresses and sweaters worn over silk skirts.
Altuzarra’s collection is partly inspired by traditional Japanese Boro clothing farmers and fisherman, loose strings dangled from many of the skirts. The 30-year-old designer explored fringe & layering technique in his SS14 collect.
For evening he showcased metallic fabric made from silver/platinum & gold. Metallic blouses & skirts with volume spilling about the waist for an effortless look.
