This lampshade diy is perfect for any room in your home and will suit any décor style. This drinking straws lampshade is such a feature piece and very easy to make. I was so bored with my brown plain lampshade that I decided to give it a makeover using straws, the inspiration for this diy is from anthropologie.
You’ll need
Lampshade
Straws
Glue gun
Glue sticks
Craft knife
Spray paint
Masking tape
Old magazines/papers
Noah Curved Floor Lamp Base Chrome
Wall stickers (optional)
Black acrylic paint (optional)
- If you don’t want to spray paint straight onto the lampshade you can use a black or any colour of your choice wall sticker and stick it around the lampshade otherwise skip this step. Trim off any excess wall sticker using a craft knife.
- Make a template design of how you would like the straws to be glued and once you’re happy with the design, go ahead and glue them on the lampshade using the hot glue gun.
- If you don’t mind spray painting the inside of the lampshade you can skip this step, otherwise use old magazines/news papers and masking tape and tape the inside of the lampshade.
- Spray paint the lampshade and the straws and let them dry.
- Remove the masking tape and your lampshade is ready to be hang
