This trend is perfect for summer and is on the fashion front as we have spotted a few celebrities rocking this trend on red carpet events. This trend is classy, feminine and versatile. Crochets can be a choice cloth for all occasions from formal to informal events. Crochet styles are perfect for beach cover up and to add a bit of Gatsby chic to your look. Crochet pieces range from shoes, dresses, tops, shorts, cardigans, scarfs, bags, shrugs to accessories.
Since crochets are revealing we recommend keeping it cool by wearing natural colours or colours similar to your skin tone. You can also wear bright coloured underneath your crochets for a statement look. This trend is mostly popular with bohemian chic’s and music festival goers but anyone can rock it and manage to look fab in it.
Ways to wear crotchet styles
Wear a crochet top/ kaftan over your bikini for a beach party or a day out in the beach. For a festival look pair a crop top with a crochet top and high waisted cut off denim shorts and boots. For a dressed down look pair a maxi crochet dress with sandals and cross bag. Wear a crochet shrug with a bride’s maid dress or boot tube dress for a stylish look. For a an evening look wear linen crochet shorts with a tank top, clutch and ankle strap sandals for a sassy look. Wear a crochet top with a skirt/cropped pants/skinny jeans or shorts and heels. For bohemian chic wear a crochet dress with a fringe bag, boots, necklace and a hat.
Celebs rocking the crochet trend
Miley Cyrus wore a Balmain crotchet jumpsuit at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards which featured black and silver diamante diamond design, and zippers at the ankles & her back. The singer kept her accessories to a minimal and teamed the crotchet jumpsuit with black peep toe heels and red lipstick.
Jennifer Lawrence wore a black fitted Dior wool crochet bustier with slim black trousers with red pointed heels for a casual monochrome look
Maggie Gyllenhaal wore a Dior Fall 2013 black and white strapless knit patterned dress with crotchet peplum ruffle which she teamed it up with black heels at the premiere of White House Down in New York. The dress featured diamond prints at the top half and an illusion tea length skirt. Maggie Gyllenhaal has done well pulling off this look even though it’s not our cup of it, we would have preferred the dress to be knee length rather than three quarter.
