New York fashion week ended a few days ago and here is a list of what to expect in spring summer 2014.
Thigh High slits: SS13 we focused so much on displaying our midriffs in crop tops but come summer spring 2014 we’ll be showing plenty of thighs. Thigh high slits trend was displayed in collection by Costello Tagliapietra, Alexander Wang & Altuzarra
Halter Neck: This 90s halter neck trend will be making a comeback in SS14. Designers such as Jason Wu, Rag & Bone and Band of Outsider’s Scott Sternberg showcased halter neck trend in their collections.
Polo shirts trend: Polo shirts are back in full swing next season as there are the perfect smart alternatives to smart casual vibe. SS14 offers a new iteration on this preppy trend. Designers such as Alice + Olivia, Tommy Hilfiger and Band of Outsider’s Scott Sternberg sent models down the catwalk wearing polo shirts with skirts & shorts.
Swirls: Swirl prints/pattern was on display on Phillip Lim, Peter Som & Rachel Comey collection. Swirl patterns were embroidered onto sweatshirts & skirts which makes swirl the hottest print SS14
Oversize Perforation: Golf ball sized cut out items are must have come spring summer. Designers like J.Crew, Tess Giberson & Lisa Perry sent models down the catwalk wearing perforated tops over dresses & shorts.
Gingham print/tablecloth print: Gingham fabric are must have print in spring/summer 2014. Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta and Derek Lam incorporated tablecloth print in their collections. We saw kimono jackets, dresses, skirts, turban & shorts in gingham print
Sheer clothes: Designers offered a feminine take on dresses & tops. Translucent dresses were spotted in shows by Reed Krakoff, Narciso Rodriguez & Jason Wu among others which makes sheer pieces a must have items come SS14.
Crop tops & cut out dresses/peek a boo: Crop tops & cut out dresses will still be sticking around come next season. Jill Stuart & Altuzarra
