Rihanna’s collaboration with River Island has been a big hit with the shoppers. The singer’s urban chic line landed in stores in March this year and had fans queuing throughout the night to get their hands on her capsule collection.
Rihanna is preparing to unveil a second high street range for summer which will land in stores on May 25th. Her new collection caters for beach to bar wear and features use of tie and dye in maxi dresses, shorts and jumpsuits.
Rihanna explains that ‘I wanted to make clothes for fat days; stuff that I want to wear. I was being selfish.’ But judging from the high-waisted skater skirts, bralets and super short hot pants, not many items from the collection have been designed for everyone’s ‘fat days’. She also explains that ‘when we started doing this collection we got to get our hands dirty and do everything from scratch. We literally made the prints and we’ve made our own fabric,’. ‘I just wanted stuff that I wanted to wear because at the end of the day that’s what got me into designing – seeing things on the rack that were great, but that could have been a little more me’.
