Hope y’all had a lovely Easter, because I did after getting stuck in a lift going to a party, I couldn’t have asked for a better Easter. I have never gotten stuck in a lift before; I only see it in movies, so it was really funny when the four of us got trapped in the lift.
We rang the emergency alarm but guess what no one answered it; we were there for at least 15minutes before taking the matters in our own hand by pulling the lift doors. A part from getting stuck in a lift yesterday the sun decided to come out in it full glory which it was amazing even though it was still cold.
I wore this outfit yesterday when I went to church after my alarm refused to wake me up and also forgetting that the clocks changed forward. It was definitely an eventful Easter for me. I paired my yellow blouse with a lace mini skirt and studded black heels.
Now that spring is here even though the weather hasn’t caught up with the season yet, there’s no better way to bring a ray of sunshine to your wardrobe/look by wearing bright sunny hues such as yellow. Yellow is a colour that pops and heats up any spring/summer wardrobe. Yellow comes in form of acid yellow, chartreuse yellow, bright yellow, mustard yellow and marigold yellow.
Skin tone guide
Use your skin tone as guide when wearing yellow, like the sunny yellow looks amazing on medium skin tone, and if you have tan/dark skin tone go for bold/saturated yellow (like the way I did), and if you have cool/pale skin tone stick to dark/mustard yellow. We also know rules are there to be broken, if you feel confident wearing whatever shade of yellow regardless of your skin tone go for it. Yellow works well when worn with khakis, beiges and creams. If the boldness of yellow scares you, no need to worry as you can start wearing a hint of yellow in form of accessories such as belts, yellow beanie hat, yellow shoes, and yellow bag to ease to it.
Tips on how to wear yellow
Here are a few tips on how to wear yellow, pair an acid yellow dress with gold/nude heels and gold necklace for an evening or occasional look. You can also pair a yellow blouse with a cream/khaki/black trousers and pumps/heels for a casual look. Wear a yellow blazer and team it up with a black/cream dress for a chic look. And for the brave pair a yellow blazer with yellow pant/ brocade trousers, a cream/black blouse and white heel for an elegant statement look. You can also pair a yellow jumpsuit with a black blazer and heels for a date night look. For a city chic look team up a mustard yellow cardigan with maroon shorts, cream blouse and beige brogues/pump shoes. For an edgy look pair mustard yellow pants with houndstooth blazer, yellow belt, and a cream blouse.
