According to the medical experts, the adhesives used for eyelash extensions can cause infection by trapping dirt and bacteria, trigger allergic reaction and can even cause the natural lashes to fall out. I stumbled upon this article in the daily mail and I thought I should share with you guys.
Eyelashes extension procedure works by having individual synthetic lashes attached to the wearer’s lashes for a fuller look. Kristen Chenoweth is one of the victims of eyelash extension as she said ‘Something bad has happened. I’ve got eyelash extensions. Here’s the problem: The glue has formaldehyde in it, and I’m allergic. I swelled up and I’m sneezing. . . It looks like I have lips on my eyelids.’
I have heard a few cases of people complaining about the synthetic eyelashes extension which have caused them eye irritation to the point that they had to get them removed.
Apparently the adhesive used by beauty salon contains formaldehyde which is highly toxic to all animals regardless of method of intake and irritates the eyes. According to Philip R Rizutto said ‘Sometimes just the irritation from the glue used can lead women to rub or tug on their lashes,’ adding that many ophthalmologists have reported a rise in patients with problems relating to eyelash extensions’.
According to UK’s college of Optometrists ‘Repeated use of eyelash extensions can cause traction alopecia, a condition where the hair falls out due to excessive tension placed on the hair shaft,’ a press release stated. ‘As a result, this can damage the hair follicle, which can slow down and even cease production of hair.’
Planning to get the eyelash extensions make sure you’re not allergic to the adhesive.
