Contour is all about emphasising the facial features that we love and playing down the features that we are not so keen about. When it comes to contouring try as much as possible to use matte and cool undertones for a natural finish. Below are tips and tricks on how to contour like a pro for a to achieve a flawless look.
You can use powder and cream and a blending brush or sponge to contour. First thing first you will need to determine your face shape in order to determine the placement of the highlight and contour.
Highlight: First apply your regular foundation then go ahead and contour using the lighter shade on a stick foundation or contouring palette, or creamy concealer two shades lighter than your skin tone. Apply under the eyes, down the centre of your forehead and chin, and in a line down the bridge of your nose to narrow it, then stop just before you reach the end and add a little spot/dot at the tip of your nose.
Define: Dip a small flat brush such as an eyeshadow brush into contour cream, foundation, concealer or powder cream two shades darker than your skin tone. Buff it on in straight lines down the side of your nose, from under the eyebrow to the edge of the nose. Do the same to the other side of the nose, keeping the lines narrow and straight as you can. Apply to the temples, the hollow under the cheekbones and along the jaw.
Blend: Use a blending sponge or brush, blend the paler lines with the darker sculpted areas. Buff just enough that there are no harsh lines, but don’t rub them off completely. Smile and work the darker contour colour onto the apples of the cheeks to give a natural finish.
